Played a lot of new songs today that I didn’t add to the list yet because… I was playing video games all weekend. This project was supposed to be like work, yes, where you do things you don’t always like to do to create outcomes you want, but as I wrote in my monthly review, I’ve been having kind of a rough time lately. So, I give myself the grace to not do the work, and to not beat myself up about it. At least I’m practicing and singing. All the plans for the future rest on me getting good at that anyway.

The Beginning After the ‘Ukulele (5)
Well, we made it through the week! Had a nice block of Hawaiian music today, as well as a bit of the 80’s / gothy stuff. Also did a bunch of new songs that weren’t on the list yet. Since its the end of the month, I need to do my month in review post and update the song list, but I’m feeling lazy. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have energy and can do work instead of a migraine like the past two weeks. We shall see.

The Beginning After the ‘Ukulele (4)
My voice lessons started up again today, and that’s always a nice reality check. I know I have far to go with my singing, but also, its super helpful to have someone who knows how to show me just how far that is.
We tried learning a lot of new songs today. With the iPad in play I can now listen to music while monitoring the stream, so I tried a handful of “live learns” that I just never found the time to do outside of streaming. The streaming hours basically takes up all my time for music in a day, and I’ve been having such bad weekends that I haven’t had extra energy for that kind of work.
Some of the songs I worked on today:
I can’t remember – Alice in Chains
Ode to the Mets – The Strokes
You’re Gonna Go Far – Noah Kahan
Without Me – Eminem
Waiting on the World to Change – John Mayer
Save Tonight – Eagle Eye Cherry

The Beginning After the ‘Ukulele (3)
Well, was in a bit of a mood today still because of the insurance stuff from yesterday, so we played a bunch of Emo songs to help get my mind off of it. It’s already the end of the month, which means I need to prepare my month in review and update my song list already, but man, its so hard to be motivated. Guess I’ll write about how hard it is to stay motivated lol. I should probably make a format for these posts too instead of just saying whatever comes to mind, because honestly, I’m so tired after a stream that I don’t want to think or type or do anything at all. But I know I won’t stick to the plan if I write this up in advance so… yeah. I tell ya, working with artists (i.e. myself)….

The Beginning After the ‘Ukulele (2)
We just passed 200 subscribers on YouTube! Huzzah!
But, also got news that my upcoming medical procedure that was denied by insurance was also cancelled by the doctor so we can’t even go through the appeal process. The reason it was denied was that there is apparently a team who can do this work in my state (though on a different island, and planes are rough for me cuz its hard to stay flat), but its all up in the air.
I got a new iPad setup I probably should talk about too, but I’m still kind of just in a bad mood because of the medical stuff, so I’m not gonna write much more right now. Maybe tomorrow.

The Most Heretical Last Boss ‘Ukulele (5)
It’s kind of amazing how quickly what I did in a day disappears from my memory. Even when I know I’m supposed to do this write up after, things just slip my mind. I feel like we played a lot of 90’s hits today, after Charles suggested I try Inside Out by Eve 6 and it turned out that I knew almost the whole thing right off without having heard the song in years. Anyway, I’m super glad that its Friday, hopefully I don’t have a crazy painful weekend again and can tackle next week with vigor.

The Most Heretical Last Boss ‘Ukulele (4)
I was going through the modern pop set today, but then my voice kind of gave out halfway so I spent a good chunk of time doing instrumentals and noodling. Those are always a bit rougher than my vocal pieces, but it is good to practice them too. Guess I need to get better at pacing myself. And practice the instrumentals more. Almost through another week!

The Most Heretical Last Boss ‘Ukulele (3)
Still feeling a bit down, but we made it through the day. Even did UU song challenge sets, both Country and Motown in one day! Just gotta remember to share them tonight. Played a bunch of new songs that I’ve been learning, and went through part of the new Hawaiian set too. Its all coming along, slow but surely. I would list them out more, but I’m still quite exhausted after these streaming sessions, and I just want to relax now. So, watch if you want to see.

The Most Heretical Last Boss ‘Ukulele (2)
I’ve been kind of drained since the migraine episode this weekend, so I decided to take it easy today. We started the stream with a nice little existential chat, then I just went off and played songs from a bunch of my favorite bands: The Cure, The Smiths, AFI, Metric, Interpol, and more. I may not have done proper work making progress on the new music, but any singing is building the skills and muscles, so its good. I may have been tired and dreaded starting, but I did have fun by the end.

The Most Heretical Last Boss ‘Ukulele (1)
I had a pretty rough weekend, a massive migraine took me out for most of Saturday and then Sunday was spent recovering, and even now I’m still a little faded. I did get to watch a bunch of anime, cuz that’s what I do when the head hurts too much to think, and The Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior was the best of the crop. I’m a sucker for those Villainess anime, and it was the perfect way to kill the a day.
But yeah, not feeling great, and that’s why Monday’s are electric uke days! Its always so fun to play them it doesn’t even matter how I feel. Every time I pick one up I have a good time, and today was no exception. Today we played the Fanner, tried a bunch of new songs (the list continues to grow) and played some old favorites. Its always hard to switch back and forth between GCEA and DGBE, but the more I do it the easier it gets. All in all a great way to start the week.
