  • Ukejima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble?

It was another tough weekend after the migraine on Friday, I didn’t sleep well and I didn’t get to play Tokon as much as I would have liked, but we’re still alive and breathing. This week’s show is named after Kaijima: Why Sing When you Can Warble? which was… well, an anime of all time. It was almost hit my fabled strike zone of “perfectly average” where its really not great, but not so bad as to be abrasive. Perfect for watching with a migraine where you don’t need to care about the characters or plot, or even if you stay awake really.

Electric uke Mondays are always a good time, and I started the day with some “work” on sheet music that I realized I should be doing after my last voice lesson. Then a new buddy popped into the stream and we spent the day exploring songs, which was fun. I’m on stream to meet and entertain, so the work will just have to get done in the down time.

  • Witch Hat ‘Ukulele (1)

Another Electric Ukulele Monday after a weekend playing UBass. I almost wanted to do a RockSmith stream but its extra work to set up. Might try it eventually. Gotta be careful not to wear out my hands though. My streams are 3 hours long because that’s about as much as my voice can handle, but if I keep using my hands afterwards it can get too much too. People often forget that playing music is a very physical, athletic activity. It’s entirely about how you use your muscles, just in a very different way than how we approach sports or exercise.

I was supposed to figure out a template for these post stream reviews, but I forgot. And I’m still too tired after streaming to function well. I thought I would get used to it eventually, but it just hasn’t happened yet.

  • The Beginning After the ‘Ukulele (1)

I had a bad case of the Mondays, after having to take the migraine medicine on Saturday again which always leaves me drained. But the Electric uke is so much fun it pulls me through.

Had a nice little stint of 90’s alt, and played a bunch of Radiohead at the end. My throat is a little sore though, I’m hoping its just a bit of a cold that will go away soon enough.

Over the weekend I watched The Beginning After the End Season 2, and honestly I quite like the show. I never read the original material, so I don’t have the same disdain for how they ruined such great stuff. Yeah, the animations aren’t the best, and the story is clearly truncated, but I still enjoy the ride. Or maybe its just because I watched it following “Apparently the strongest job is not hero or sage, but appraiser (provisional)” which was hot hot garbage – though of a flavor I do quite enjoy.

  • The Most Heretical Last Boss ‘Ukulele (1)

I had a pretty rough weekend, a massive migraine took me out for most of Saturday and then Sunday was spent recovering, and even now I’m still a little faded. I did get to watch a bunch of anime, cuz that’s what I do when the head hurts too much to think, and The Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior was the best of the crop. I’m a sucker for those Villainess anime, and it was the perfect way to kill the a day.

But yeah, not feeling great, and that’s why Monday’s are electric uke days! Its always so fun to play them it doesn’t even matter how I feel. Every time I pick one up I have a good time, and today was no exception. Today we played the Fanner, tried a bunch of new songs (the list continues to grow) and played some old favorites. Its always hard to switch back and forth between GCEA and DGBE, but the more I do it the easier it gets. All in all a great way to start the week.

  • [Electric Uke Monday] My RibdUKEulous Reincarnation Part 1

Over the weekend I started watching My Ribdiculous Reincarnation, and man, what a fun show. Turning all the tropes on its head, playing with all sorts of art styles and visual productions, and telling a pretty cool story to boot. I’ve only watched a few of spring 2026 shows so far, but I can tell this is gonna be one of the top ones. So much fun.

Today on stream it was the Sparrow’s turn to shine. I like Electric Mondays because whenever I pick up the electric uke’s I have a great time… even if its a Monday and I’m dragging myself back to work.

Started with some anisong, and then got into a long period where I worked on scales. I noticed I was having trouble with a particular hand transition in the two octave scale, and so I drilled down and focused on it a bit. With a bunch of efx on. Seemed like nobody was watching anyway, so I just noodled and practiced for a while. I found an interesting solution involving shifting from my pointer to my ring finger, and now just need to drill that motion a bunch.

  • Electric Uke Monday! Ukulele Life In Another World Part 1

I started with the story of how I came to own the Fanner, went into some of the songs I tripped over yesterday at the beach, wandered for a while and tried to learn some new songs, then got turned on the distortion and ended the day with some emo songs.

Every time I play the electric ukulele’s I have an absolute blast, its just that I always feel like I want to play them with a full band accompaniment, and I don’t see that happening anytime in my near future. So, for now they’re gonna stay my way to kick off the week and have fun with music. Ain’t that the point?!
