Was a busy day: had a voice lesson and then participated in the UU Open Mic, that ended early so I did a shorter stream afterwards. I may or may not stream tomorrow, we’ll see how I’m feeling.

Played a bunch of the old emo ukulele songs today, then spent more time working on “Almost like being in Love”

  • One of the few songs I actually went out of my way to figure out a way to play it on uke, but I forget how to do it if I don’t play it often enough. It’s a super fun song though, and I think I at least capture its spirit. Sure wish I could actually rip a crazy solo in the breakdown though. Oh well, maybe someday with a full band.

It’s kind of wild how by the end of the stream, I’m so tired that I’ve almost completely forgotten what I just did all day. One thing I know is that I’ve failed to stop adding new songs to the list! I just keep thinking of more songs to play, and it sounds like fun to learn them so… whats a few more songs to fake?

I may or may not stream tomorrow, I’ll be doing the Ukulele Underground Open Mic and last time it was too much and I got a massive headache afterwards. We’ll see.

  • One of the great things about “properly” learning songs is you encounter musical ideas you’ve never seen before. Today I had to pause and muse for a while of a specific chord progression found in this song from F9sus to F7b9. It was super interesting, and executed in a way I had never seen or imagined before. And it sounds pretty neat too! Definitely something I’ll be thinking about for a while.

I said I learned enough, I need to focus on quality, improving the songs I already know now. So of course, I added several new songs to learn today.

  • It took me a couple tries to find the key, but I made it through this one with a bunch of reverb and I think it was neat. I was sort of GAS’ing over getting a new reverb pedal, when I know the solution is to learn to use the one I have better, so I found a new setting combo and sung this song with it. No new pedals for me… today.

I slept so much last night I woke up with a headache. Barely made it through the day, but I made it. TGIF
