  • Ukulele-chan isn’t Scary (2)

StreamerSongList, the app that I (and a lot of other streamers) use for our song lists and requests pushed a pretty big update, which broke a couple things for me and required some computer time to fix, so I took care of that this morning and hopefully got it all sorted out. Still getting used to the new interface, but its a super cool service they provide free of charge, so I have only gratitude for them.

It feels weird to already be on Wednesday after only playing once since I cancelled Monday, but it is what it is. Keeping track of the days is tough for a hikki-neet. There was a lull for a while and I had a techno beat stuck in my head, so I spent a good half hour noodling around a groove, which was fun. I actually have a sort of improv-electro set I’ve been working on, that I might debut on the next electric uke Monday. We’ll see.

Here are some songs that stood out to me today:

    • New Songs Attempted
      • Don’t Look Back in Anger – Oasis
      • Everyday Struggle – Notorious BIG
      • Rock this Town – Stray Cats
    • Works in Progress
      • Welcome Home – Coheed and Cambria
      • Broken Wings – Mr. Mister
      • Glory Box – Portishead
    • Learned Songs Revisited
      • Let’s Dance – David Bowie
      • Time Bomb – Iration
      • Weight of the World – Nier Automata
    • Song of the Day: Rude – Magic
      • This song is too damn catchy, and its pretty hilarious. I remember thinking it was dumb when I first heard it on the radio way back then, but now I think its dumb on purpose, and that’s part of what makes it catchy. And its fun to play, so, it gets my pick today.
  • Ukulele-chan isn’t Scary (1)

Well, I forgot to do my post-show review because I was so tired after the stream, but a lot happened. It was a long weekend – we got hit by Tropical Storm Lala and it knocked out the power and internet for several days. It wasn’t back in time for Monday’s show, so that was cancelled, but that was ok because I was pretty tired already. I’ve been tired, for what seems like weeks now. I did get to play a LOT of ukulele while the power was out, which is one of the best parts of playing an acoustic instruments.

I was so tired on Saturday that I rested all day and then the power went out and I was all awake for the night. Over slow cell data I watched Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary, which was pretty fun to watch in the dead of night with no power. The Japanese ghosts and horror was pretty fun, especially through the lens of a haunted preschool. It started off as a monster of the week kind of thing, but I actually really liked it once it got into the broader storyline. I’ll leave it at that as to not spoil anything, but it got me looking back to see what else I missed in the Winter 2026 season.

Anyway, todays stream started with a pretty fun chat about anime and isekai before getting into the music. Even with only singing for part of the time, I was still exhausted by the end. I keep thinking I’ll get used to the energy expenditure, but maybe I’m wrong. Idk. Will just keep trying for now I suppose.

Here are some songs that stood out to me today:

    • New Songs Attempted
      • Material Girl – Madonna
      • Love Shack – The B-82’s
    • Works in Progress
      • Blue Skies – Irvin Berlin
      • Danger Zone – Kenny Loggins
      • Broken Wings – Mr. Mister
    • Learned Songs Revisited
      • Save Tonight – Eagle Eye Cherry
      • Everything Went Numb – Streetlight Manifesto
      • Hell – Squirrel Nut Zippers
    • Song of the Day
      • Keeping the Faith – Billy Joel

  • Ukejima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble? (5)

Here are some songs that stood out to me today:

    • New Songs Attempted
      • Broken Wings – Mr. Mister
      • Friday – Rebecca Black
      • Forgot about Dre – Dr. Dre
    • Works in Progress
      • The Anthem – Good Charlotte
      • Lava – Moana
      • Lady in Red – Chris de Burg
    • Learned Songs Revisited
      • Father and Son – Flight of the Conchords
      • Head over Heels – Tears for Fears
      • Take on me – Aha
    • Song of the Day: The Middle by Jimmy Eat World

I’m still out of it and kind of low energy, so my song of the day is that affirmation that it just takes some time. You’re in the middle of the ride. Everything will be just fine. Everything will be all right, alright.

  • Ukejima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble? (4)

Had a chill little 00’s electro-indie throwback set today. Was good fun!

Here are some songs that stood out to me today:

    1. New Songs Attempted
      • Forgot about Dre – Dr Dre
      • Clocks – Coldplay
      • Sober – Tool
      • Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride – Moana
    2. Works in Progress
      • I Lava U – Moana
      • Blue Skies – Irving Berlin
      • Obstacle 1 – Interpol
      • 96 Quite Bitter Beings – CKY
    3. Learned Songs Revisited
      • Once in a Lifetime – Talking Heads
      • Such Great Heights – The Postal Service
      • New Slang – The Shins
      • Pumped up Kicks – Foster The People
    4. Song of the Day: Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars

Chasing Cars is pretty straightforward to play on ukulele, and its got some great lyrics that are pretty fun to sing. You can pluck it, you can strum it (I do both in different sections!), and its also about laying here, which is all I can do (being stuck in bed an all). Bonus!

  • Ukejima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble? (3)

Let’s try out this format: new songs I tried out, songs I worked on, old songs I revisited, and my favorite song of the day. This wont be every song that I played through the day, but maybe just some notable ones. Maybe this will be simple enough for me to handle when I’m exhausted at the end of a stream.

    New songs:

    Touched – VAST

    NYC – Interpol

Jump Around – House of Pain

    Works in progres:

    Blue Skies – Irving Berlin

    Danger Zone – Kenny Loggins

    Old Songs:

Never Fade Away – Cyberpunk 2077

I really want to stay at your house – Cyberpunk 2077

White and Nerdy – Weird Al Yankovic

    Favorite Song of the Day:

    Tomcat Disposables – Will Wood

  • Witch Hat Ukulele (3)

Started the day with some random roulette, and finished with a nice block of 90’s alt songs. I’m still so tired. I’m still debating about getting Marvel Tokon when it comes out tomorrow, partially because I might be feeling to tired to have fun learning the new game. I don’t know. At a time like this I would normally make a deal with myself to get the new game in exchange for committing to get more work done, but I don’t know if I really want it or really care. Depression is rough.

  • Witch Hat Ukulele (2)

Played a lot of new songs today that I didn’t add to the list yet because… I was playing video games all weekend. This project was supposed to be like work, yes, where you do things you don’t always like to do to create outcomes you want, but as I wrote in my monthly review, I’ve been having kind of a rough time lately. So, I give myself the grace to not do the work, and to not beat myself up about it. At least I’m practicing and singing. All the plans for the future rest on me getting good at that anyway.

  • The Beginning After the ‘Ukulele (5)

Well, we made it through the week! Had a nice block of Hawaiian music today, as well as a bit of the 80’s / gothy stuff. Also did a bunch of new songs that weren’t on the list yet. Since its the end of the month, I need to do my month in review post and update the song list, but I’m feeling lazy. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have energy and can do work instead of a migraine like the past two weeks. We shall see.

  • The Beginning After the ‘Ukulele (4)

My voice lessons started up again today, and that’s always a nice reality check. I know I have far to go with my singing, but also, its super helpful to have someone who knows how to show me just how far that is.

We tried learning a lot of new songs today. With the iPad in play I can now listen to music while monitoring the stream, so I tried a handful of “live learns” that I just never found the time to do outside of streaming. The streaming hours basically takes up all my time for music in a day, and I’ve been having such bad weekends that I haven’t had extra energy for that kind of work.

Some of the songs I worked on today:

    I can’t remember – Alice in Chains

Ode to the Mets – The Strokes

You’re Gonna Go Far – Noah Kahan

    Without Me – Eminem

Waiting on the World to Change – John Mayer

Save Tonight – Eagle Eye Cherry

  • The Beginning After the ‘Ukulele (2)

We just passed 200 subscribers on YouTube! Huzzah!

But, also got news that my upcoming medical procedure that was denied by insurance was also cancelled by the doctor so we can’t even go through the appeal process. The reason it was denied was that there is apparently a team who can do this work in my state (though on a different island, and planes are rough for me cuz its hard to stay flat), but its all up in the air.

I got a new iPad setup I probably should talk about too, but I’m still kind of just in a bad mood because of the medical stuff, so I’m not gonna write much more right now. Maybe tomorrow.
